Owensboro, Kentucky to Lawrenceburg, Indiana

Day 1

The Great Race: Hills, Heat, and Holding Speed

Today was all about the hills, and let me tell you, they were tough! If I had to pick a theme for the race today, it would be maintaining speeds of 10 and 48 mph and countless hills. We managed to hold our speed while navigating blind bends and many many hills. At one point, we nearly hit a deer and probably annoyed quite a few locals with our slow pace, but such measures are necessary for the love of The Great Race.

We crossed the border from Kentucky into Indiana and have officially completed Day 1 of the race, spending the night in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Temperatures remain incredibly hot, and I think it’s safe to say Della and I have developed a newfound appreciation for air conditioning!

Aside from the heat, we saw miles of farmland and forested, hilly areas on today's drive. We ended the day with a score of 17 seconds, and we’re looking forward to another exciting day of racing tomorrow! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our adventure. Thanks for following along!
