Day 3 Recap: Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland

Yesterday was Day 3, and we had an exciting start as we began the day in the second position of car order—a first for us! Unfortunately, our luck took a quick turn as we made a wrong turn on the very first instruction. In a move to correct our mistake, we shortcut through a parking lot, off-roading over a curb. Despite this rocky start, we traveled though three states: Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland, ending the day in Frostburg.

The rolling hills of these states were beautiful, but we saw surprisingly few people along the way. Amazingly, the parking lot mishap didn’t throw us off too much, and we ended up with a 1-second score on that leg. Overall, it was a fantastic day, and we finished with a total of 28 seconds.

  • I thought this was an old rag but it wasn't. Notice the vertebra (!). I have been watching out for snakes all day.

  • "Park like a mother." This is not as bad as it looks. In fact, I was doing a fancy maneuver to get my car out without moving two cars. Della said "We hop curbs all day long, you can do this!"
