Lawrenceburg, Indiana to Marietta, Ohio
Day 2
The Great Race: Trains and Rain
Today we found ourselves stuck behind a train, along with about 50 other GR cars, waiting for what felt like forever. According to navi. Della, we were held up for approximately 35 minutes and 50 seconds. Once we finally got past that hurdle, we faced another: heavy rain. It was pouring all day, and I have so much sympathy for those racing in open-top cars—I have no idea how they manage! One fellow racer claimed he had about one inch of water in his car!
We stopped in Lancaster, Ohio, for lunch and were greeted by a wonderful crowd. Unfortunately, due to the train delay, we could only stay for a few minutes before we had to hit the road again. Despite the rough start, the afternoon went by smoothly with no major issues.
Our day ended in Marietta, Ohio, where we were welcomed by an incredible turnout. Seeing so many supportive faces was so nice and definitely one of the best night stops of the race so far. We ended the day with a total of 15 seconds after submitting our time delays and are excited for another day of racing tomorrow. And we gained another ACE!
Race on!
